We commemorate personalities, races, car shows, news and new books.<br>At the beginning of January, the unexpected and sad news came that he had suddenly passed away. <strong>Ladislav Samohyl<\/strong>, a prominent collector of historic vehicles from Zl\u00edn. He passed away in full creative activity with a number of unfinished projects.<br>If someone among us is a globetrotter, then\u00a0<strong>To Jirka \u010cern\u00fd<\/strong>, who needs no introduction. The mature octogenarian began his career as a globetrotter at the age of fourteen, when he set off from Prague via Jevany to S\u00e1zava, riding a hundred horses. His last trip was the year before last in November, when he took part in the London-Brighton race. A list and description of the competitions and expeditions he undertook between S\u00e1zava and Brighton would take up an entire Motor Journal, and we would have to leave out the exhibitions, competitions of elegance (he initiated and directed \u201eRoztoky\u201c for several decades) and other events he organised or participated in.<br><strong>Lambar\u00e9n\u00e9<\/strong>, a Gabonese city 75 kilometers below the equator, once became more than a geographical term for Czechoslovaks. It symbolized solidarity, willingness to help, courage, organizational skills and adventure, in times almost 60 years ago for the vast majority of local citizens in such conditions beyond imagination. Everyone knew about the Lambar\u00e9n\u00e9 Expedition project. We have a unique opportunity to have its initiator, doc. MUDr. Petr Bart\u016f\u0148ek, CSc., tell us about it.<br>A brilliant German designer and one of the most important pioneers of the automotive industry <strong>Wilhelm Maybach<\/strong> He was known for his modesty and hard work. He did not pursue fame, but focused on technical excellence, which earned him the nickname &quot;King of Designers&quot; in France.<br>Mark <strong>Wolseley<\/strong> is one of the first British car manufacturers and its history is closely linked to the Morris and Austin brands from beginning to end. The first car bearing the Wolseley name was designed in 1895 by Mr. Herbert Austin, who founded his own car company ten years later.<br>In our country, there are only a few riders and designers of road racing motorcycles in one person who can build an entire motorcycle by hand according to their ideas and plans and are among the top of our best amateur designers and riders of road motorcycles. This prominent designer and rider is <strong>Franti\u0161ek Dvo\u0159\u00e1k from Zvikov under the Lusatian Mountains<\/strong>, FAD motorcycle designer.<br>For the afternoon of December 15, the French <strong>Osenat auction hall<\/strong> sale of several paintings, motorcycles and cars at the H\u00f4tel d&#039;Albe in Fontainebleau. The offer was exceptional in its own way, not only for its variety, but also for the large number of vehicles in found condition.
