The 556.0 locomotive series was one of the most reliable and widely used locomotive series in our locomotive industry. It was so successful with its operational performance and design simplicity that 510 of them were produced within seven years. Without any major design changes, it became the most numerous series of steam locomotives at the Czech Railways.
