Czechoslovak Body Builders, Part 1, Pardubice Region, Jiří Junek, Martin Štěpán
The Regional Museum in Vysoké Mýto has once again prepared a treat for all those interested in history, regardless of age group. They have published the first part of a new edition on Czechoslovak coachbuilders, which is dedicated to both well-known and forgotten coachbuilders in the territory of today's Pardubice Region on 208 pages. Coachbuilding was once very widespread and closely related to the development of motoring and automobile production. In contrast, today it is somewhat of a "memories" field, hidden somewhere in the bowels of robotized automobile factories. And that is why the authors of the museum in Vysoké Mýto decided to describe and document the production and history of Czechoslovak coachbuilders. The result of the work is the first part of a book that maps the history of eight coachbuilders. They managed to obtain a large amount of unique material, such as period photographs, plans and testimonies of eyewitnesses or family members. Thanks to them, the enthusiastic authors were able to depict not only the specifics of bodywork production, but also many economic and social aspects of the first half of the 1950s. First and foremost, however, they present readers with the stories of extremely interesting, hard-working and tenacious people who made their mark on Czechoslovak automotive history.

Motorists on and below Šébr, Jan Němec
Published by the Technical Museum in Brno
Softcover, format 16.5 × 24 cm, 190 pages
On February 7, 2020, the book launch of the head of the State District Archive in Děčín, Jan Němec, Motorists on and under Šébr took place at the Technical Museum in Brno.
Pre-war Czechoslovakia had long underestimated the potential of motoring and left car and motorcycle owners to help themselves. In our over-motorized present, drivers would be surprised to find themselves having to procure road signs, pay for winter maintenance and constantly ask for improvements to roads that cost nothing. In order to be heard, drivers formed associations, of which there were around a hundred, which fought each other for members. The German car club "Nordböhmischer Kraftfahrerbund" in Rumburk managed to unite almost 2,000 motorists and its voice carried weight. It was one of the few to cooperate closely with the Car Club of the Czechoslovak Republic and for a long time put the interests of drivers above national and political interests. It organised popular races, published a magazine, gave lectures and fought tirelessly for domestic driving.
This is yet another masterpiece by an author known for his book, The Legendary Motorcycle of the Czech Republic. We recommend that anyone who is eager to buy the book, they will not regret it.

Our Motorcycle Import, The First 70 Years, 1895–1964, Milan Veselý
The new book is the result of many years of research efforts by the author and his friends. It is prepared as an encyclopedia mapping the first 70 years of motorcycle imports to our territory. The main emphasis is placed on the most complete list of brands operating on our market, the time frame of their operation and the determination of their success expressed primarily by the number of units sold. For the most important companies, an analysis of the structure of the type offer is carried out, information is provided about representatives, operational interesting facts, the most important sporting successes and notes on the service life of their machines and their occurrence in today's collections of historic vehicles. The operation of individual brands on our market is supplemented with basic facts from their own company history.
The book begins with a brief historical overview summarizing the first 70 years of our motorcycle imports. The first part follows, dedicated to 54 brands that managed to sell more than 100 motorcycles in our country. Their treatment is significantly more detailed than the treatment of the remaining 219 brands in the second part. The huge number of illustrations, together with the high level of graphic and printing work, gives the publication a representative character. The vast majority of the illustrative material was taken from period prints and albums of period photographs of exclusively domestic origin.
Historical facts were drawn primarily from old Czech and German periodicals and publications. They were only supplemented with information from contemporary Czech literature and the Internet. Most statistical data was taken from archived company reports and from reports of the Czech Statistical Office. To a lesser extent, period almanacs and period magazines served as a source of valuable information. The huge number of illustrations, together with the high level of graphic and printing work, gives the publication a representative character. The vast majority of illustrative material was taken from period printed matter and albums of period photographs of exclusively domestic origin.

Our Motorcycle Market, The First 120 Years, 1895–2014, Milan Veselý
The new book is the result of many years of research efforts by the author and his friends. The aim of the publication is to provide the most concise, yet comprehensive description of the development of the first 120 years of two-wheeled motorization in our territory. The main part of the book is prepared as an annotated and illustrated statistical report on the development of our motorcycle production, sales, imports and motorization of the population. The brief text illuminating the economic, political and legislative background is supplemented by a number of exceptionally extensive tables with never-before-published data. The second part of the book outlines the history of motorization of our armed forces, post, the development of traffic regulations, safety, accident rates, the road network and the collector-veteran movement.
